Charlotte Gainsbourg
On character and provocation such as playing Gisèle at 16 raped and found guilty, being another
character provokes strong performance, such as in “Melancholia” and having 3 days with Wes
Anderson, a God - "Phoenician Scheme".

“The Phoenician Scheme”.
Trans mountain, inland waterway, hydro electric power stripping away the emotional map on
pages. The best costumes, like God discovering shaping water and sculpting. Wes Anderson and
Zsa-Zsa Korda, the kid inside a bath tub for 7 hours on set. Step inside, steal the props, here’s
where two ideas meet imagination in very dark capitalist contradictions appear layers of Grey,
Black and White tones.

Cannes Talent Talk at UK Film Centre with filmmakers of "Pillion", hosted by Wendy Mitchell.
Sketch includes Gareth C.Scales, (editor), Lee Groombridge (producer), Nick Morris (DoP), Harry
Lighton (writer, director). Sketch Scene opens with the empty enger seat of a CBR biker and
the musings on both compromised costumes, the classic leathers and alternative style of a
cream onesie. Screen UK offer a camper for dressing, complete with a super in and out self
stabilising feature for talent on location. The Best scene, shot with Alexa K5, brings the ACTION
on for the romp in the woods… directed dialogue slithers out it’s like Bacon (artist’s reference to
Francis Bacon) “it’s way under that… start until I get stuck”. (PAUSE) “I can direct this!”
The editor comments he’ll “stay far away as I can” … and that may well be for another 9 months!
Does he have a day job? (LAUGH)

Cannes Variety host Kering Women in Motion Award for Taraji P. Henson and with Dr. Stacey L.
Smith. Original stories include mental health focusing on colour, in Purple and Straw. Taraji offers
an over the shoulder look, and comments “it was two women that saw her, they follow me! I love
people”!
Taraji stuns audience, modestly, as she is introduced as having the largest fan base and
highlighting an international range of colour.

My festival takeaway from Cannes Courts Metrages, five films (screening 20th Mai 2025)
“Our love is like grain, to be planted. The last hug dies and is born as wheat in an empty space of
our own architecture.”
