This June we will launch our first annual film festival, celebrating the many facets of the art of storytelling through cinema. Featuring screenplay and short film competitions that are far beyond ordinary, this four-day festival takes place right here in downtown Cary, NC.

We’re attracting filmmakers from across the country who’ve submitted their screenplays and short films (>30 minutes) embodying some unusual incarnations of this year’s “Hometown Stories” theme. us for a weekend of fun and an enjoyable cinematic experience open to the community.

The roots of our slogan “Beyond Ordinary” originate from the Town’s moniker from the late 1700s as Bradford’s Ordinary. It represents our mission of providing a unique setting to experience affordable art house cinema. As we launch our inaugural festival this year, we invite you to participate in what we expect to be a unique cultural arts experience here in the Town of Cary.

Competition Short Films must have been completed after January 1, 2016 and should not exceed 30 minutes in length, including credits. All non-English language films must have English subtitles. Films must embody this year’s theme of “Hometown Stories,” but are not limited to genre.

The IndieBOOM! Festival is now accepting short films and videos in all categories, and unproduced screenplays. Submissions are open until Nov. 3. We’re in the middle of a new indie boom, and it deserves a new kind of festival. The Northern Wave International Film Festival will be celebrated from the 16th to the 18th of October 2015 in Grundarfjörður, Iceland. The philosophy of the festival, upon which its name is based, is Nouvelle Vague, or New Wave. Like Nouvelle Vague, Northern Wave attempts to revive the recognition of film making as an art form and the director as artist/author. An important goal of the festival is to develop relationships between experienced filmmakers and emerging filmmakers in Iceland and other countries. We are a  visionary festival that celebrates artistic and ground braking films by filmmakers who dare to take risks.

The festival consists of a short film (all genres) section and, for the first time ever in an Icelandic film festival, a music video section.  Bands will be encouraged to attend the festival and their videos with a concert during the weekend. In this way, the musicians can make s with filmmakers and vice versa.

The Northern Wave weekend consist of a numerous screenings of a variety of international short films. The program also includes a lecture from a professional from the film industry, a fish soup competition at the local fish market and numerous concerts and events during the weekend.
